Layout Mat
If you are interested in printing your own layout mat check out this forum thread. If you read through all four pages there are a number of examples which you could print yourself or take to Office Max or Kinkos and have them print it for you.
This site sells a layout mat specifically for drum building. It is a well thought out diagram and is what I used for the layout jig in “Beginning Drum Building”. However, with a $40 price tag it’s quite pricey.
A far cheaper comercial alternative is to buy a cake dividing wheel. Bakers share our need to divide a cylinder into even segments. It doesn’t feature a ruler like the Drum Building Mat, but it would be relatively easy to add the marks you needed.
